What is a produce pack?
A produce pack is essentially a box full of seasonal, naturally grown vegetables. All the items in our produce packs are grown without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. We believe that food should be grown naturally and that the vegetables we and our families eat should be free of traces of chemicals. We also believe that vegetables shouldn’t come from halfway across the world, and should instead be grown locally, and eaten fresh. Unlike a supermarket, we deliver our vegetables within hours of harvest. Generally we do most of our harvesting early in the morning and meet our customers later that day at the drop off location. It is literally impossible to find vegetables this fresh in a grocery store.
We also include local pesticide and herbicide-free seasonal berries (strawberries, raspberries, black berries, blueberries), a loaf of wholegrain, local-flour bread, and a dozen free-run eggs that we get from a local poultry farmer. Click here for more details on our extra items.
Each pack costs $50 which includes $40 worth of vegetables and the extra items. We value our vegetables at regular retail value. We do not charge more than most grocery stores even though our product is grown naturally, delivered fresh, and, according to our customers (and we would have to agree), tastes better too.
What vegetables will be in my produce pack?
You’ll find a complete list of the vegetables we grow on our recipes page.
Our produce packs consist of a wide range of veggies. We grow more than 30 different vegetables and over 70 varieties, so our customers don’t get bored. We offer a seasonal eating experience, meaning our packs consist of the vegetables that are in season. Again unlike a supermarket, we can’t and won’t deliver tomatoes in June. Many of the vegetable in our packs are old favourites, but you will also find new and exciting vegetables that you may never have tried before. Many of our customers have told us that our produce packs have introduced them to new vegetable favourites that they wouldn’t have otherwise tried.
What if there are not enough people in my household to eat a full produce pack weekly?
Individuals living on their own and some couples may find that a full produce pack contains more veggies than they can eat in a week. We work up a healthy appetite in the field each day and could probably each go through two produce packs a week, but we realize that not everybody eats as many veggies as us. When this is the case, we encourage people to find a neighbor or friend to share a pack with. Clients who have done this in the past have either alternated weeks or split up the pack each week. Either way, you will probably find that this is not just an easy solution, but a great way to get to know a friend or neighbor better.
Do I get to choose what goes in my produce pack?
We do not normally customize orders. We try to ensure a wide variety of vegetables in each pack, and we have taken into account the quantities of vegetables that customers preferred from last season when planning what to plant for 2011. However, if you have specific allergy concerns or really dislike certain items, we are happy to accommodate you.
We will have 5 delivery days on which we bring produce packs to various drop-off locations (usually a parking lot) where part of our team will meet you within a certain window of time (usually between 5pm and 7pm). You will be assigned to the drop-off location that is most convenient for you; you will meet us there every week and we will give you your produce pack and you will pay us. So far, Kredl’s in Hampton, Simply for life in Saint John (Rothesay Ave), Simply for life in Quispamsis (Hampton Rd.), and Harbour Passage (under the bridge) in Saint John, are planned drop-off locations for the 2011 season.
Essentially, it’s as if you have a date once a week during a certain time frame to go grocery shopping, but instead of going to the grocery store, you meet us at your drop-off location.
What if I need to go away during the summer?
Our garden does not stop producing even when our customers are away, so we encourage our customers to find a friend to enjoy their produce pack while they are away. They will probably thank you for it! However, if you are absolutely unable to either pick up your pack or have someone try it for the week, simply let us know the week before so that we can take your name off the list for that week.
Can I have my pack delivered to my home or place of work?
We do not offer a home delivery service. If there is an exceptional case where you are unable to make it to the drop-off location or send someone to get your pack for a certain week, we will be sure to accommodate.
I was wondering if you have a pick up place closer to Grand Bay-Westfield area? I live in Nerepis and I don’t travel to Saint John very much.. I always try to stay within Grand Bay for everything. Please get back to me! Thank you
Our closest pickup point is at simply for life west on sand cove road. It is just off the highway near Irving nature park, which I believe is only a few exits away.

I am also noticing that we have one other customer in Grand-Bay Westfield. Maybe I could arrange something so that she could bring it for you, or you could alternate each week or something like that.
